Since 2007 there have been a small group of people involved in the Louth Community Food Gardens project. This was inspired by the Incredible Edible movement which originated in Todmorden . Originally operated under the Transition Town Louth initiative, Louth Community Food Gardens were transferred to Low Carbon Louth in 2017. There were 3 areas in the town centre that we used to grow food in public spaces, at Charles St Recreation ground, Louth Library and “The Gatherums” park near the Queen St Car Park.

In 2022 we removed the raised beds in The Gatherums to reduce the work load and left the Charles St Recreation Ground to local residents to continue maintaining the garden. In 2025 the gardens are still active and cared for.
The only bed we still maintain is the small brick bed at the front of the library.
We are involved with the “Garden Club” at the Community Plus Project at Park Ave , Louth, which meet on a Thursday morning to support local volunteers maintain the gardens and grounds.
